A winter sunrise paints the face of Castle Mountain with its golden light. The easternmost mountain in the Main Ranges in the Bow Valley, it was named in 1858 by James Hector. In 1946 it was renamed Mount Eisenhower in honor of the WWII general and bore his name until 1979 when public pressure resulted in its original name being restored.
