Sacrifice

from $3,500.00

This is Maryhill Stonehenge, a replica of England’s Stonehenge, dedicated in July 1918 to the soldiers of nearby Klickitat County who had been killed in World War I. It was the first monument in the United States to honor those killed in World War I. It was modeled after Stonehenge following the then prevalent belief that Stonehenge had been a site of human sacrifice. Maryhill Stonehenge was built as a reminder that humanity was still willing to offer human sacrifice to the god of war. As a veteran myself, I found this place particularly moving.

Limited Edition of 50 prints each signed and numbered
